Learn Continuous Cover Forestry in the Field

On 12 May 2026 - Bavay - France

  • Innovative training in Continuous Cover Forestry (CCF) through a digital marking tool – May 12 in Bavay

    Training in continuous cover forestry (CCF) can also be enhanced through digital tools. This is the ambition of the European Forest Digital Learning (ForDiL) project, which offers an innovative self-learning tool directly connected to real field conditions.

    Using an interactive application based on a digital marteloscope and travailloscope, participants are immersed in real-life situations involving tree marking, regeneration, and silvicultural decision-making.

    Each decision is analysed and supported with tailored feedback, contributing to more sustainable forest management adapted to current challenges.

    In the Mormal Forest, these training tools—developed in collaboration with the Bavay vocational school and the French National Forest Office—provide a highly practical learning experience.

    The marteloscope, located in an irregular high forest of oak and hornbeam, allows users to simulate marking decisions and assess their impact. Nearby, the travailloscope enables participants to diagnose natural regeneration situations and propose appropriate silvicultural recommendations.

    This training session will enable you to:

    - discover an interactive and autonomous way to learn CCF;
    - test your management decisions in realistic field conditions;
    - strengthen your professional skills through personalised feedback;
    - explore a tool designed for today’s—and tomorrow’s—foresters.

    The ForDiL project partners are pleased to invite you to this training session
